Proper editing of your Charleston Wedding Video | Charleston Wedding Videos - Demos - Wedding Photography

There is no better way to remember your wedding day in Charleston than with a Charleston Wedding Video .  However, you want to make sure that you choose the right videographer or you may end up with an expensive "home movie."

I have seen so many Charleston wedding videos in my several years in this business.  Sadly, most are really poorly shot or poorly edited.  I just know that the couple must feel slighted a bit when they receive their video and it looks like one of their uncles filmed it from the back row.

Here are just a few things I have seen in others' work that I would caution you to look for as you select a videographer for your wedding.

The couple's faces were hard to see during the reception because the lighting was so low. ( This is caused by the camera operator using a cheap consumer quality camcorder rather than a professional broadcast quality camera.  It can also be caused by the operator of the camera not knowing how to set up the light filtering system)
The scene transitions are goofy (inexpensive, consumer grade video editing software has so many goofy transitions that you would NEVER see in a Hollywood production video.  Little cupid flying around on your video or hearts are some examples of the kinds of  "special effects" I have seen on some wedding videos)
The camera is shaking badly making you feel a bit sick to your stomach (This happens when the camera operator does not use a steadying device or does not know how to use that type of device properly.  An experienced wedding video camera operator has to know how to move without allowing the camera to become shaky)
Scenes from the video are long or boring and you think to yourself, "why didn't they cut that?" (Most of the time creating a high-quality Charleston wedding video is in the editing.  When I see videos that are super-boring, I instantly know that they did not spend enough, if any, time editing to tell the story of the day.  I spend 30-50 hours PER VIDEO on editing it to make it perfect)
You can't hear the vows (The operator was not using wireless lapel mics for the ceremony.  Not only do I wire the groom with two wireless lapel mics, but the recording is in Dolby® Stereo.  Don't settle for a mono recording.  It is 2006!!!)
The wind noise on the video is horrible (The operator did not use noise-reducing mics and/or did not know how to edit the wind noise properly after the capture.)

The video has "cheesy" titles, hearts or other really tacky "effects." (The editor used an INEXPENSIVE consumer grade editing software and did not have the taste to avoid the cheesy stuff.  If I paid for a wedding video and a cupid flew across my screen, I would be so upset.)

Check out some more recommendations for choosing someone for your Charleston Wedding Video.  I have seen a lot of Charleston Wedding videos and hopefully these recommendations will help you find the right vendor for your wedding.

All the Best,

Bill
